I can not guarantee that all this mentioned points are correct or complete.
The drivers offered on this page have not been developed by me and so the use of these drivers are at your own risc.
- Background

The RAP//CD-drive was distributed and developed by Noveca Computer GmbH (Germany). This company is in bankruptcy since 1997 and there is no further support.
This drive is connected to the parallel port of the computer. Only CD-ROM-drives and CD-changers are supported by the RAP//CD-box.
Referring to the handbook the velocity of the cdrom-drives lies between 2 and 6 times. But there are also someone tested with 44 times velocity.
- Drivers and supported systems
For this external cdrom-drive there are only 16-bit-drivers which run with OS/2, DOS, Windows3.xx, Win9x and sometimes with Win ME. Linux / Unix, Win NT, Win 2000 and
Win XP are not supported by the available drivers.
If you want to use the drive with Win ME you need a patch which can be found at http://www.geocities.com/mfd4life_2000/
. In this patch the autoexec.bat and config.sys files will be activated. Another possibility is to use the "MSCONFIG" which is distributed by Microsoft with WinME.

- Installation
For installation on a Microsoft-system (excluding Win ME) please look at the user manual.
In the OS/2-case you have to read the corrected readme-file.
If you are using a notebook or a laptop you have to choose the bi- or uni-directional protocol for the parallel port, powersaving must be deactivated and
other programmes using the parallel port, like printer-monitors and zip-drivers have to be deinstalled.
In some cases you have to download a special tool from the notebook-manufacturer which enables the right protocol.
The next point is the use of the right data-cables (internal->IDE, external->1:1 connected) and the right power supply : 13.5V, 1A.
After installing the drivers it should be possible to change the active drive at the DOS-prompt. If the drive does not appear in the DOS-prompt, the RAP//CD-device
might be damaged.
- VxD-Driver
Directly from the developer of the RAP//CD device, we have got a pre-version of an VxD-driver.
